My week on the Faroe Islands workshop with Vieri and Zeynep exceeded expectations and delivered exactly what was promised. This was not only my first visit to the Faroes, but also my first experience attending one of Vieri’s workshops. What struck me immediately was Vieri’s deep knowledge of the islands, particularly the unique and ever-changing weather. Each day, the itinerary was adapted to make the most of the conditions, thereby ensuring we never lost valuable time to poor ‘photographic weather.’!

In mid-March 2026 we ran the second of our two back-to-back 2026 Workshops on The Faroe Islands. This was our eighth Workshop on Faroe, also with a group of two returning Alumni. The first one, on his thirteenth Workshop with us, was on his second of two back-to-back Workshop on Faroe for 2026; the second one, on his third Workshop with us, joined us together with his non-photographing wife. Unfortunately, she got down with a serious cold on the second day of the Workshop, missing most of the remaining days; we immediately implemented our usual procedures to make sure the group stayed safe, helped in this by our Alumnus who was very cooperative and even rented a separate car to minimise his contacts with the rest of us.
As expected, the weather on The Faroe Islands proved to be a very important player during this Workshop as well; as always, however, despite the weather forcing us to miss a couple of sessions, thanks to our knowledge of the Islands and our understanding of the Atlantic weather we managed to photograph multiple locations every day, once again keeping above our target of two shooting locations per day.
Thanks to staying always in the same hotel, during this Workshop we made the most of our non-shooting time, adding extra post-processing sessions and sessions dedicated to discuss Arca-Swiss equipment (both cameras and ballheads) which the group found interesting and inspiring to add new tools to their arsenal.
One of the reasons I love the Faroe Islands so much is their abundance of different photographic situations, offering everything from iconic, large vistas to intimate, more minimalist ones. Not only this makes for one of the most interesting and inspiring of all our Workshop destination, but it also offers the opportunity to always find something suitable to photograph with every weather conditions. From moody, cloudy days to amazing sunset skies to misty, foggy conditions, during this Workshop the Faroese weather offered us pretty much anything you can wish for. Thanks to our usual careful planning of our shooting destinations for each day around the weather, I was happy to see our group enjoying working on a very large variety of subjects.
Since I find revisiting locations a great learning tool, I always try and offer this opportunity to our groups; on this trip we had the opportunity to photograph Velbastadur twice, once at sunset and once in the morning.
Last but not least, the always fundamental social aspect of the Workshop. During this second Faroe Islands 2026 Workshop we were sorry to have had to minimise our social interactions with one of our Alumni due to his wife's cold, and even more disappointed not to have had much opportunities to enjoy her company. That said, we truly enjoyed working with our group despite having to wear a face mask to do so in full safety, and we had great fun during our downtimes with our other Alumnus: great food and most importantly always fun conversations about topics ranging from photography to art, cinema, music and politics made for a truly wonderful Workshop!
In early March 2026 we returned to the Faroe Islands for the first of two back-to-back Workshops there. This was our seventh Workshop on Faroe, this time with a group of two participants, all returning Alumni. The first one, on his twelfth Workshop with us, booked two back-to-back Workshop to make the most of his time on Faroe; the second one, on his tenth Workshop with us, came back to Faroe with us again after having joined us in March 2023 - when we have been graced by some of the biggest snowfalls on the islands - to have another shot at the Faroe Islands under completely different weather conditions.
The weather on The Faroe Islands is always a very important player, when it comes to landscape photography. During this first of our 2026 Workshops, despite the weather not always cooperating, thanks to our knowledge of the Islands and our understanding of the Atlantic weather we managed to photograph multiple locations a day every day, keeping well above our target of two shooting locations per day.
Photographically, the Faroe Islands are a gold mine of opportunities, featuring landscapes ranging from iconic, large vistas to intimate, minimalist ones. This, to me, makes for one of the most interesting and inspiring of all our Workshop destination; during this Workshop together I was happy to introduce our Alumni to a wide range of what the Faroe have to offer, planning our shooting destinations for each day around the weather. As many of you know, I find revisiting locations a great learning tool; on this trip we had the opportunity to photograph Gasadalur twice, both times at sunset.
On the Faroe Islands we don't change hotels during the whole Workshop; this allows for plenty of time to dedicate to image review and post-processing, and on Faroe we made the most of this opportunity, including equipment talks and technical talks.
Last but not least, the social aspect of the Workshop, fundamental as always for us. During this first Faroe Islands 2026 Workshop we truly enjoyed working with our group, both in the field and during our post-processing sessions, and we had great fun during our downtimes. The best food the Faroe have to offer perfectly complemented our interesting, stimulating and most importantly always fun conversations about all sort of topics, for a truly special Workshop!
In mid March 2025 we ran the second of two back-to-back The Faroe Islands Workshops. This was our sixth Workshop overall on Faroe, and once again we had the pleasure to work with a full group of three participants, two of which stayed on after joining us for the first of our 2025 Workshops there. The third participant was a last-time booker who jumped at the opportunity as soon as a cancellation caused one seat to be reopened.
Having two people staying on from the first Workshop proved to be an invaluable tutoring experience for me. I strongly believe in the tutoring power of revisiting locations, and on all Workshop I love to provide the group with that opportunity. Here, however, for the first time I could follow two photographers doing that on a full Workshop's scale, and it was extremely interesting for me to see how much more confident they were the second time over, both moving around the locations to find compositions and photographically tackling them.
The third participant was a newcomer, an enthusiast photographer and a gentleman, and it was a real pleasure to meet him and to work together on The Faroe Islands. Unfortunately, unexpected business reasons forced him to leave early and he had to miss the last couple of days, but I hope there will be other opportunities for him to go back to The Faroe Islands for more.
On this second 2025 The Faroe Islands Workshop, the weather gave us a bit of a hard time, but thanks to our knowledge of the Islands and our understanding of the Atlantic weather we managed to photograph multiple locations a day every day. Since on this second Workshop we went to many locations we couldn't go to during our first one, the two photographers staying for both had the opportunity to photograph many new locations on their second tour with us, besides revisiting many of them as mentioned above.
Last but not least, the social aspect of the Workshop, fundamental as ever. During the second of our Faroe Islands 2025 Workshop we had a great time working in the field, we enjoyed our post-processing sessions with the group and we had great fun during our downtimes. Conversations with the group ranged from photography to hand-made car making, from economics to the beauty of relocating to Tuscany, for a truly wonderful Workshop!
In early March 2025 we went back to the Faroe Islands, after one year hiatus, for the first of two back-to-back Workshops on these spectacularly inspiring islands. This was our fifth Workshop overall on Faroe, and we had the pleasure to work with a full group of three participants, one of which a returning Alumnus, joining us with his wife for the sixth time. The other two participants were newcomers, and we were very much looking forward to meeting them.
Interestingly, two of the three participants decided to stay on for our The Faroe Islands Workshop March 2025 (2), starting right after this one - given how remote The Faroe Islands are, it made perfect sense for them to make the most out of their journey there.
Once again, let me start by saying how much I love working with returning Alumni. First of all, it's always lovely for us to see them again; on the tutoring side, on the other hand, I find it a privilege to be able to follow them along their journey with landscape photography. Seeing them grow with landscape photography and follow their journey is truly inspiring.
Our perfect knowledge of the locations, as well as the number of extra shooting locations we have on all our Workshops, are one of our strongest suites. On The Faroe Islands, the capricious nature of the Atlantic weather makes this even more a must than elsewhere. During these 8 days on The Faroe Islands we enjoyed some pretty good conditions for photography, once we worked around the capricious nature of the weather. As well, the group's mobility made it impossible for us to access some of the locations we had in mind for the Workshop, but thanks to our knowledge of the Islands and the huge number of extra locations we have available we managed to photograph multiple locations each day anyway.
I love The Faroe Islands because together with some truly iconic, spectacular vistas, they offer more intimate, Fine Art locations which I enjoyed introducing the group to, for more varied photographic challenges. Add the fact that thanks to staying in one hotel for the whole Workshop we had a lot of time every day for our trademark image review and post-processing sessions, and you'll easily understand why this is one of my all-time favourite Workshop!
Last but not least, the social aspect of the Workshop, something fundamental for us. During our first Faroe Islands Workshop for 2025, we had a wonderful time both working in the field and during our post-processing sessions with the group, and we enjoyed the fun atmosphere of our social time during our lunches and dinners, with enlightening conversations about photography, economics, politics and more, for a truly wonderful Workshop!

What struck me immediately was Vieri’s deep knowledge of the islands, particularly the unique and ever-changing weather. Each day, the itinerary was adapted to make the most of the conditions, thereby ensuring we never lost valuable time to poor ‘photographic weather.’
The workshop itself was exceptionally well organised. From comfortable accommodation and clear daily briefings, to insightful post-production sessions and, of course, the outstanding locations. The small group format created an ideal environment for interaction, learning, and sharing experiences. Both Vieri and Zeynep possess a comprehensive understanding of photography. Further, they provided clear, practical guidance and were always available to answer questions or offer advice, which was incredibly valuable.
As educators, both Vieri and Zeynep were perfect workshop facilitators. Having attended many workshops over the years, I can confidently say that this Faroe Islands experience set the benchmark for how a truly professional photography workshop should be conducted.
In late-March 2023, right after our second The Faroe Islands 2023 Workshop, we were happy to welcome the participants to our third and last Workshop there for spring 2023, our fourth total on the Faroe Islands. This time, it was a 6-day Private Workshop with a group of two gentlemen, both newcomers to our Workshops.
While the weather was still a bit colder and wintery than it normally is on Faroe in March, conditions were not as extreme as they were for the previous two Workshops. Albeit to a lesser extent, however, snow was still on the ground on many locations, snow showers still kept us company from time to time, and the landscape still benefited from a dusting of snow beautifully contrasting with the stark colour palette of the Faroe Islands.
During these 6 days on The Faroe Islands, we enjoyed working on some of the Islands most iconic landscapes, for a truly rewarding short Workshop; more, not having to change hotels helped me introducing to our new participants our trademark image review and post-processing sessions at leisure.
Last but not least, the ever-important social aspect of the Workshop. During this Faroe Islands Private Workshop we had the pleasure of meeting two new enthusiast, like-minded photographers and real gentlemen, and our conversation ranging from photography to art, from politics to economics to the joys of moving house made for a truly enjoyable Workshop!
In mid-March 2023, right after our first The Faroe Island 2023 Workshop ended, we were happy to welcome our Alumnus for the second of three Workshops on Faroe this year and our third overall! On her eight Workshop with us, she is one of our two longest returning Alumni, and for both my wife and I it's always a real pleasure to welcome her with us on a new and amazing photographic adventure!
Due to a last minute cancellation, this Workshop effectively turned into a Private Workshop, offering me and my wife a great opportunity to work in-depth with our Alumnus for 8 full days, both in the field and during our image review and post-processing sessions.
As with our previous Workshop the week prior, the weather proved to be a tough companion for us on this Workshop, but turned out to be an amazing ally as well. The snowy conditions again added a truly unique atmosphere to the Faroe Islands' landscapes for most of our week together, one that is seldom seen and photographed. During these 8 days on The Faroe Islands, we put those conditions to the best use, photographing the Islands wide and famous vistas as well as doing some more intimate, minimalist work.
Last but not least, I'd like to mention once more the social aspect of the Workshop, always truly important for us. During our Faroe Islands Workshop, it was wonderful to see one of our longest-returning Alumni again, and to spend 8 days together working in the field and during our post-processing sessions. My wife and I truly enjoyed our conversations during our lunches and dinners, where we talked about photography, politics and life, in front of some of the best food available on The Faroe Islands, for a truly enjoyable Workshop!
In early March 2023 we went back to the Faroe Islands for the first of three back-to-back Workshops on these incredibly inspiring islands, and our second Workshop overall on Faroe. This time over, we had the pleasure to work with a full group of three participants, all returning Alumni. One of them came back for his seventh Workshop with us, while the other two were both on their second one.
It's always great to work with returning Alumni, for many different reasons. First of all, on the personal side it's always a huge pleasure for us to see them again. On the tutoring side, I find it extremely interesting to be able to follow them along their journey with landscape photography, and it is a real privilege for me to be part of it. Seeing them gaining confidence with landscape photography, and seeing their photography develop over time, is truly inspiring for me.
All participants on this Faroe Islands Workshop were Medium Format users - in particular, two of them were fellow Phase One (and fellow Achromatic) users, both joining us with a Phase One XT, while the third was a Fuji GFX 100 user. I love Medium Format and the look it produces, and having a full MF using group added some extra interest for me as a tutor, both on the technical and artistic side.
During these 8 days on The Faroe Islands we had to face some unexpected weather-related challenges. This year, not only winter stayed on longer on Faroe, but it brought a lot of snow with it, testing the Islands' resilience and preparation.
On our end, while the weather made it impossible for us to access some of the locations we had in mind for the group, thanks to our knowledge of the Islands we managed to photograph at least two locations per day, going even up to four one day. On the positive side, this weather gave us the unique opportunity to photograph the Faroe Islands like you very seldom see them, which was great and incredibly inspiring! The beauty of the stark Faroese landscapes blanketed in snow has to be seen to be believed, and the results were truly spectacular.
Besides working on some of Faroe's most spectacular vistas, we enjoyed exploring a more intimate, Fine Art approach to landscape photography which the group enjoyed thoroughly. As we always like to do on our Workshops, we also had the opportunity to revisit a couple of locations, something I always find very useful and productive.
Last but not least, let me say again how much we enjoyed the social aspect of the Workshop, something fundamental for us. During our Faroe Islands Workshop, we really enjoyed seeing our Alumni again, we had a wonderful time both working in the field and during our post-processing sessions, as well as a truly enjoyable social time during our lunches and dinners, where we enjoyed conversations about photography, economics, politics and... the Faroese weather, of course, for a truly memorable Workshop!

We were surprised by the snowy weather on the Faroe Islands. But, the weather gave us some fantastic photographic opportunities. Vieri made sure to put safety first and guided us to some excellent locations, true “Vieri spots”.
This was my second workshop with Vieri and Zeynep and certainly not the last. Vieri is an experienced teacher and gives tips and feedback both on location and under the daily review sessions. The small group of three participants allows Vieri to always be around for questions and comments without being too intrusive in your work. Beside all photography Vieri and Zeynep made the week very pleasant.
All in all, a very professional and high-quality workshop that I can truly recommend. And, of course, the Faroe Islands are amazing!
I had no idea what to expect of the Faroes – but I certainly didn’t expect snow for every day we were there! It made for challenging conditions, but Vieri and Zeynep know the Faroes so well that they were able to avoid the worst of the incoming weather and take us to some spectacular locations.
Everything was well organised; very professional; and a truly memorable learning experience!
In mid-September 2022, after over a full month of total time over repeated visits dedicated to exploring and discovering these amazing islands and to learning how the weather behaves there, we went to The Faroe Islands for our first Workshop there. This was a 8-day group Workshop with a group of two participants, one of which an Alumnus returning for the second time for a Workshop with us. Unfortunately, the other participant had to cancel due to Covid-19 related issues, effectively turning this into a Private Workshop for our returning Alumnus.
Working with a returning Alumnus in what turned to be a Private Workshop setting made it easier for me to fully customise the Workshop to his requirements. This turned out to be even more interesting for us both, giving our Alumnus personal approach to landscape photography through the stitching of images using longer lenses, something he favours for the different look it creates.
During these 8 days on The Faroe Islands, we worked on some of Faroe's most spectacular landscapes; besides working on the impressive Faroese wide vistas, in selected locations we explored a more photographically intimate approach to composition, down to creating nearly minimalist imagery.
Last but not least, the social aspect of the Workshop, something always important for us. During our Faroe Islands Workshop, we really enjoyed seeing our Alumnus again after a long hiatus (the Covid-19 pandemic didn't help!). We had a great time working in the field and during our post-processing sessions, and during our lunches and dinners we enjoyed long conversations about photography, life, economics, coffee and politics, for a truly enjoyable Workshop!

A workshop with Vieri is like savouring your favorite dish. You look forward, you anticipate, you prepare, you pay attention to every little detail, you enjoy, and you learn through the interpretation of every little change and the minute adjustments made. These moments together are intensive and fun. You learn new styles and polish familiar ones. Simplicity and mastery of the tools are key. This was my second workshop with Vieri. One builds on the other since Vieri has enormous attention for detail, remembers one’s style and adjusts suggestions accordingly.
The weather is always unpredictable – their unrivalled knowledge of the locations make that I trust Vieri and Zeynep 200% when they say: “let’s wait here 20 minutes”. Rest assured…an amazing sunset is about to happen!
Zeynep is the quiet force behind the scenes that makes sure that everything, I mean everything, is as smooth as can be!
